What was your favorite food to eat as a child?

If I had to pick one favorite dish my mom made for us growing up (and I still have her make it today!) it would be her homemade spaghetti sauce. It pairs perfect with the nutty, buttery flavor of ancient KAMUT® brand wheat pastas!

What is your favorite childhood memory in the kitchen?

I have more memories of eating dinner nearly every night as a family at our dining table. My dad worked and my mom was at home with my sister and myself during the days. We always had salads, a variety of vegetables and whole grains with all of our meals.

What was your favorite recipe to help make when you were a kid?

I actually was spoiled growing up with my parents great cooking – so I never was in the kitchen helping out or cooking. I am pretty sure I was too busy running around and playing outside!

What’s your favorite recipe now?

My favorite thing to cook now is anything that involves baking. I love fooling around with yeast and bread recipes and using my hands to make tasty and healthy baked goods. I recently saw a recipe for KAMUT® brand wheat cookies that I can’t wait to try out:

KAMUT® Brand Wheat Chocolate Chip Cookies:

Ingredients:

1/2 Cup Oil of Choice
1/2 Cup Maple Syrup
2 Tablespoons Water
2 Teaspoon. Vanilla
1 1/2c. Rolled KAMUT® Brand Khorasan Wheat Flakes
1 Cup KAMUT® Brand Khorasan Wheat Flour
1 Cup Chopped Walnuts
1 Cup Chocolate or Carob Chips
2 Tablespoons Flax (optional)
1/2 Teaspoon Sea Salt
1/4 Teaspoon Baking Soda

Preparation:

In mixing bowl beat oil, syrup, water, and vanilla until emulsifies. Combine oats, flour, nuts, chips, flax, salt, and soda. Stir into syrup mixture & mix just until everything is evenly moistened. Let rest 5 minutes.

Drop onto baking sheets. Dough will be crumbly. Flatten cookies to 1/3 inches thick. Gently press dough so cookies hold together. Bake at 350 degrees for 18 minutes.
